FAQs
Everything You Need to Know About ACC+
We understand that choosing care for your dog—especially during recovery or while managing a medical condition—comes with a lot of questions.
Here’s exactly how Assisted Canine Care Plus works, who it’s for, and what you can expect
General Program Questions
What is ACC+?
ACC+ (Assisted Canine Care Plus) is a specialized recovery and support program for dogs who need more than traditional daycare or boarding.
We provide structured, attentive care for dogs recovering from surgery, managing medical conditions, or needing early intervention and monitoring.
ACC+ bridges the gap between veterinary care and home—providing a calm, controlled environment where your dog can heal safely, be closely monitored, and receive consistent support.
How is ACC+ different from regular daycare or boarding?
ACC+ is not group play.
Traditional daycare focuses on socialization and high activity.
ACC+ is intentionally different.
Your dog receives:
- Quiet, supervised recovery lodging
- Controlled potty breaks
- Medication administration (as prescribed)
- Structured activity restrictions
- Continuous monitoring to prevent overexertion
Boarding guests receive 24-hour supervision.
We focus on healing, safety, and prevention—not stimulation.
Is ACC+ a veterinary facility?
No—we are not a medical facility.
We work alongside your veterinarian by following care instructions and maintaining consistency between visits.
ACC+ is designed to support and extend your vet’s care—not replace it.
Is this right for my dog?
ACC+ may be a good fit if your dog:
- Is recovering from surgery (ACL, orthopedic, soft tissue, eye procedures)
- Has mobility concerns (limping, stiffness, joint issues)
- Is managing a chronic condition
- Requires medication throughout the day
- Needs restricted activity
- Is not suited for traditional daycare due to physical limitations
If your dog isn’t ready for normal activity—but doesn’t require hospitalization—ACC+ is likely the right fit.

Each dog’s day is structured around their needs and may include:
- Controlled rest and movement cycles
- One-on-one care and attention

This is a calm, intentional environment designed for healing.
Will my dog interact with other dogs?
Minimal to none in most cases.
Recovery and safety always come first.
Post-Surgical Monitoring (High-Risk Case)
Problem:
A dog recovering from a cancerous brain tumor removal required close monitoring due to stitches, medication, and a surgical drain.
What We Did:
During care, we closely observed the incision site and noticed slight oozing that could have easily gone unnoticed at home.
Outcome:
We immediately contacted the pet parent and veterinary team. The vet confirmed it was within normal healing—but catching it early ensured no complications and prevented unnecessary risk.
Post-Dental Surgery Recovery
Problem:
A dog needed monitoring after dental surgery to ensure proper healing and safe response to medications.
What We Did:
We carefully observed eating behavior, monitored the surgical site, and tracked how the dog responded to prescribed medications.
Outcome:
We confirmed:
- No abnormal gum bleeding
- Normal eating behavior
- Positive response to medications
The pet parent had peace of mind knowing recovery was progressing exactly as it should.
ACL Injury Prevention Case
Problem:
A dog was awaiting diagnosis for a possible ACL tear and needed strict activity restriction to prevent worsening the injury.
What We Did:
We enforced:
- Strict crate rest
- No running, jumping, or play
- Controlled, minimal movement only
Outcome:
This prevented further strain and reduced the risk of a complete tear—supporting safer next steps and potentially avoiding more serious intervention.
Post-Tumor Removal Monitoring (At-Home Support Gap)
Problem:
A dog had a tumor removed from her tail and required constant supervision to prevent licking or chewing stitches. She needed to wear an e-collar but was known to slip it off, and her owner worked full-time.
What We Did:
We provided consistent, hands-on monitoring by:
- Ensuring the e-collar remained secure at all times
- Administering medications on schedule
- Monitoring the incision site for cleanliness and healing
- Preventing licking or irritation
Outcome:
The incision remained clean, dry, and intact, allowing for proper healing and successful stitch removal after biopsy—without complications or setbacks.
When Acc+ May Not Be The Right Fit
ACC+ is highly specialized—but it’s not for every dog.
This program may not be the best fit if your dog:
- Is healthy and looking for social daycare or play
- Requires emergency or intensive medical treatment
- Has a contagious illness
- Needs constant or life-saving veterinary supervision
If your dog needs a different level of care, we will always guide you in the right direction.
Pet Parent Peace Of Mind
How will I know how my dog is doing?
We provide consistent updates, so you always know:
- How your dog is progressing
- Any changes we observe
- How they’re responding to care
- Every day we log their behaviors, bathroom and eating habits
What makes ACC+ unique?
We are the bridge between veterinary care and traditional care.
That means:
- We catch subtle changes early
- We prevent setbacks and overexertion
- We provide structure most homes can’t maintain during the day
- We support both recovery and prevention
